Metacognition: The conscious awareness that enables individuals to plan, monitor, and evaluate their thinking.
Critical Thinking: A thinking that examines one’s own assumptions, biases, and reasoning in order to evaluate ideas objectively.
Reflective Thinking: Analyzing past experiences to improve future actions. This should not be confused with overthinking, as reflective thinking requires maintaining control over the amount of time spent reaching a conclusion.
Ethical and moral reasoning: A form of thinking that evaluates values, judging right and wrong, and predicting the consequences of decisions.
Emotional Intelligence: A form of thinking that recognizes, interprets, and makes sense of emotions.
Self regulated thinking (also known as self regulated learning): A type of thinking that plans, monitors, and evaluates one’s own learning processes. One consciously assesses their progress, identify problems, and adjust strategies to achieve goals.
